Helheim (NOR) WoduridaR - Review By Gravason

“WoduridaR” is an Old Norse word, that can be translated to “the wild rider”. You can draw lines from that to Odins many names and meanings.

The last album I bought with Helheim was "LandawarijaR" on vinyl back in 2016 simply because I was amazed how good it was.

I haven't really heard what's in between that release and WoduridaR but the first impression I get from listening WoduridaR is that they stripped the sound down to the basics which means excellent musicianship and I enjoy the guitar sounds and the mix between distorted and clean vocals.

It's not always about how good you are at singing , it's how you do and present it.

All nine tracks on the 11th album WoduridaR are over 5 minutes long so one certainly gets value for the money but what's most important is that the songs seem shorter and for me that is a sign of quality.

Helheim has really managed to create excellent melodic and entertaining music but still kept the harshness to the overall sounds.

Helheim has been active for almost 30 years now and I have to say that with their latest albums they have really stepped up and shown that they belong in the top spot.

Good melodies mixed with darkness such as this can not go wrong and they have without doubt found their own sound because I can not name another band that sounds like Helheim. They drag you into their own viking inspired musical space like only Helheim does and the riffs and melodies are very memorable after a few listen and you only want to listen again.

Helheim fans will for sure enjoy this one and if you're new to the band I'd advice you to listen twice to them because some of the real beauty does not always appear at first listen and personally I think more people should open up their ears to Helheim as they are a great band that deserves everything that comes to them and if I had to point out one thing I'd have a hard time because for me this album is flawless.

I do not wish to point out tracks to download here because every track speak for itself although "Litil Vis Madr" , WorduridaR and "Tankesmed" are amongst my faves right now.

There is not much more to say about WoduridaR but to congratulate Helheim with another excellent album from beginning to end because listening and reviewing this was a pleasure!
