"Sacred Steel always had more melodic elements than a lot of their peers, and with The Bloodshed Summoning, they continue their melodic ways, but make no mistake about it, Sacred Steel is all about the riffs." - Wicked Channel
"SS have created a
solid and effective album that won't disappoint those of you out there
that feed from many stylistic troughs." - Worm Gear Zine
"In
a nutshell, SACRED STEEL became fiercer and unrelenting with a
cracking production on this charming orchestrated horror show. Fusing
elements of Thrash Metal into their old pattern made this release a
cause of interest and there are examples to prove that, yet even so,
the Thrash elements remained under the same level." - Metal-Temple.com

Dunkelheit Produktionen to Release Pathogen's
Miscreants of Bloodlusting Aberrations March 1st
Miscreants of Bloodlusting Aberrations March 1st
Germany's Dunkelheit Produktionen has set March 1st as the date on which Miscreants of Bloodlusting Aberrations
from Philippine Warriors of Death PATHOGEN will infect humanity. Armed
with an album that sounds pretty much just as the title reads, the
veteran act continues its plague-spreading reign of terror with complete
disregard for the listener's well-being. Miscreants of Bloodlusting Aberrations is old school, uncompromising, and just plain unhealthy Death Metal. Listen if you dare.

YAYLA's Nihaihayat Out Now; Full Album Stream At AxisOfMetal.com
Nihaihayat, the fourth full-length release from Turkish black metal entity YAYLA is now available through Montreal-based Merdumgiriz Records. To commemorate the release of this cerebral and atmospheric masterpiece, AxisOfMetal.com is streaming the album in its entirety. Check it out at this location. Visit www.merdumgiriz.org to order. Multi-instrumentalist/ composer/filmmaker Emir Toğrul, the mastermind behind YAYLA. recently completed a short film entitled "Integumental Grasp Through The Sigil Of Hate; Immortalizing The Nine Disguises Of Evil In Senility," featuring album track "Integumental Grasp." Experience this dark and brooding piece of minimalist cinema at this location. Adding yet another personal element to Toğrul's grand vision, each Nihaihayat CD is handmade; Emir sprays the discs, cuts and inserts the prints for the jewel case and jacket, and pretty much makes the whole thing from scratch. Unsurprisingly, the YAYLA shirts are hand-painted by Toğrul. Direct from the hand of the creator himself, there is no limit to the number of Nihaihayati CDs, at least as long as the man is alive. Toğrul is also co-owner of Merdumgiriz "Certainly a nice record to accompany cold, lonely nights." - Heavy Metal Tribune "The combination of assaulting black metal and soothing atmospheric elements provides the listener with a style of black metal that many may not hear at a first glance. Yayla creates an album that kicks off the year the right way. So if you're looking for an album that differentiates the styles of black metal, you'll love this right away." - Ultima Music Blog Take the plunge and contact clawhammerpr@gmail.com about your coverage plans. Ripple Music To Release MOTHERSHIP Debut On February 12th
On
February 12th, Ripple Music will give worldwide release to the
self-titled debut album from Dallas-born heavy rock trio Mothership.
70's-tinged
U.S. hard rock with a sound that satisfies like a steaming hot stew of
UFO and Iron Maiden, blended with the southern swagger of Molly Hatchet
and ZZ Top, Mothership's goal from the beginning has been to carry on
the tradition of the classic rock style; updated and amped up for the
modern day. Originally self-released in 2012, Mothership and Ripple
Music have joined forces to re-release this stunning debut record on CD
(includes lyrics) and LP (packages to include an 11" x 17" poster and
download cards).
On Saturday, January 19th at 8:00 a.m. PST, Ripple Music will begin selling limited edition copies of Mothership on purple splattered vinyl with signed poster. This will be limited to 100 copies so set your alarm clocks and visit the link below to order.
This link will not be live until 8:00 a.m. PST on Saturday, January 19th.
Select tracks from Mothership are streaming at this location.
The
band will be playing two Dallas-area CD release shows next month and is
currently putting together a West Coast tour. Confirmed dates are as
follows:
February 8th @ Curtain Club - Dallas, TX
February 9th @ Lola's Saloon - Ft. Worth, TX
March 8th @ Club Red/ Red Owl - Tempe, AZ
March 29th @ Johnny B's - Medford, OR
"Such a killer find, man. Can't wait to see them live!"
- Dom Lawson (Metal Hammer / Classic Rock)
"Been listening to Mothership all day now and if feels like UFO and Orange Goblin got drunk with St. Vitus, smoked some weed with Blue Cheer and spewed out the tuffest blues-drenched, no frills love child I've heard all month. Some ridiculously badass guitars. And heavy above all else!" -- Sword of Doom "Try to resist a band that plays blues-laden metal with heavy guitar riffs that is also hoping for intergalactic travel. Mothership is a three piece from Dallas that alternates between an almost AC/DC-like sound on a track like 'City Nights' and a broader, heavier and more epic sound on tracks like 'Cosmic Rain,' 'Angel of Death' and the opener, 'Hallucination.'

Rock
n' Roll history is rife with brothers working together to create their
artistic vision. But rarely do we hear about a full-fledged family unit
embarking down the treacherous path of a musical career. In the case of
Texas based Mothership, the Brother Juett (Kyle on bass, younger brother
Kelley on guitar) enlisted the aid of their father, John Juett, to help
get the 'ship off the ground. Raised on a healthy dose of their
father's 70's-era record collection, the brothers began crafting songs
fueled on the raucous and raw good time vibe when music seemed to know
no bounds. Lifting off the pad for the first time in 2010, the band
began to gain momentum and notoriety with their unabashed live shows.
Knowing that the service of the family patriarch was temporary, Father
Juett actively helped his boys find his replacement, and in late 2011,
enter the mighty Judge Smith to hammer away on the skins. In early 2012,
Mothership entered Crystal Clear Studios with Wo Fat mastermind Kent
Stump manning the boards and by mid-year, the band self-released their
debut album. It was the combination of the 70's-era heavy rock fuzz and
fury mixed with the blistering guitar solos of the NWOBHM-era that drew
the bands attention to California-based Heavy Rock label, Ripple Music.
In the waning months of 2012, after a successful year of traveling
regionally throughout Texas and opening for national acts such as Prong,
Red Fang, Gypsyhawk, Earthen Grave, and Lo-Pan, Mothership officially
dubbed Ripple Music as its Home Port and began plotting a course for
their first U.S. Tour in early 2013.

VEX to release Memorious on February 5th via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions
Progressive Death Metal masters VEX will release their long anticipated sophomore album entitled Memorious on CD format February 5th via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. Below is the official description:
Building upon the strengths of 2010's critically-acclaimed debut Thanatopsis, Vex return to Horror Pain Gore Death Productions with another landmark extreme metal work in the form of Memorious. Those who appreciate the power and the dynamic range of Thanatopsis will delight in the death metal explorations undertaken in Memorious,
this time delivered with more streamlined songwriting, more aggression
and more of a pronounced folk and progressive influence. The lyrical
content details the immensely destructive power of human memory, but
topics such as cryptozoology, spiritual longing, drunken nostalgia and
political sovereignty are also explored. Fans of Absu, Primordial,
Agalloch, Stargazer, Edge of Sanity, Enslaved, Ved Buens Ende,
Eucharist, Amorphis, The Chasm, Dissection, Amon Amarth and Aeternus are
sure to appreciate Vex's fresh and invigorating approach to death
metal. An essential album of 2013!
Album track "Terra Soar" is now streaming at this location.
You can order your copy for only $10 including shipping at hpgd.comoj.com/store/hpgd057. html.
"Utterly unique and
bloated with atypical melodies/harmonies, the 2nd full-length from the
Texas born Vex is an eye opener of an album which instantly grabbed me
with it's superior songwriting and a style so skillfully enveloped by
the olden years of melodic death metal."
- Marty Rytkonen (Worm Gear Zine)

"Definitely check out this bleak and beautiful masterpiece of a record as soon as possible." 10/10 - The Grim Tower
"Vex have given us a post-Christmas cracker!" - Rock N Reels Reviews
"A very in-depth release. It is indeed a fine listen that you should check out."

Vex is a Central Texas-based extreme metal band that has been gigging around the state since about 2001. Their 2003 EP Sphereith
earned considerable praise from 'zines such as Terrorizer and helped
the band earned opening slots for international touring slots for
Deicide, Hate Eternal, Immolation, Origin, Krisiun, Katatonia,
Goatwhore, Moonspell, Exhumed, among others.
In
2005, Vex entered Noise Farm Studios to record a promotional release
of songs that would eventually end up on the full-length album Thanatopsis. To
promote this release and the EP, the band embarked on a West Coast
tour with Godless Rising (Moribund Records) and Avenger of Blood (JCM
Records) in the summer of 2006. The next few years were spent sorting
out lineup issues and working on Thanatopsis,
which would see a release in September 2010 through Horror Pain Gore
Death Productions. Earlier in the year, Vex released a split 7-inch
release with reunited Texas Death Metal group Divine Eve through the
same label. Obliteration Records released a CD version of the split in
Japan and Asia, featuring 3 tracks from each group.
The two years following the release of Thanatopsis
would see further lineup changes, with Joe Jackson from local black
metal Sakrefix replacing vocalist Orlando Perez. Apart from a few local
gigs, the primary focus during this period was on writing, arranging
and recording new material. The culmination of these efforts was the
second full-length album
Memorious,
set for official release through HPGD Productions in January 2013. A
limited edition pressing of the album was released in August 2012 to
coincide with the band's first full tour of the East Coast. More
extensive touring and promotion is set for 2013.
