DEPRAVITY (Australia)
Evil Upheaval (Death Metal)
Transcending Obscurity Records
30 April 2018
Death metal was meant to be an assault on the senses but somewhere along the way bands started taking it easy, getting complacent. Enter Depravity from Australia. They show us how it's to be done, to play devastating death metal without straying from the genre's roots. This is what Morbid Angel should've sounded like today. There's no going back or forth. This is it. This is the fiercest expression of death metal while remaining relevant. Louis Rando (Impiety, The Furor) and his team of musicians conjure up a maelstrom of wicked death metal that lays waste to all else. Vile, twisted and deafeningly heavy, 'Evil Upheaval' is one of the most powerful albums you'll bear witness to this year.

DE PROFUNDIS (UK)
The Blinding Light Of Faith (Death Metal)
Transcending Obscurity Records
10 May 2018
Long-running death metal band De Profundis have had an illustrious career. Over the years, they've kept perfecting their sound which incorporated progressive as well as melodic elements, and for their fifth full length, they've distilled only the best qualities into a massive death metal slab that's emotive yet powerful. 'The Blinding Light Of Faith' is a bold step forward for the band into heavier territories as they eschew long, winding songs and go straight for the jugular. With a new logo made by Gary Ronaldson (Misery Index, Benighted) and a gnarly album artwork by Alex Tartsus (Sinister, Depravity) depicting the band's anti-religious stance, De Profundis are confident of their direction and this promises to be their best album thus far. It's a quintessential death metal album that manages to showcase diversity without compromising on the heaviness.

For fans of - (early) Opeth, Dismember, Edge of Sanity, Hypocrisy, Vader, Pestilence, Ursinne, Bolt Thrower

Band's statement about their new album -

"The Blinding Light of Faith is an album about three of the most merciless and bloodthirsty institutions in human history. There is no nation or people on this earth who haven't suffered under the savagery of at least one of the Abrahamic religions and to reflect that suffering we have made the heaviest, most aggressive record of our career."

SADISTIK FOREST (Finland)
Morbid Majesties (Death Metal)
Transcending Obscurity Records (India)
25 May 2018
Finnish death metal is known for its quality, and Sadistik Forest are another band to testify to that fact. They're gnarlier than their contemporaries and play a mix of death metal that not only pays homage to the genre's greats but also fuses the sound in a way that's refreshing and also powerful. Guttural vocals by ex-Hooded Menace member soar over the music that borrows elements from doom as well as black metal and yet remains distinctly death metal in its sonic output. Pulsating and heaving like an anguished monster, Sadistik Forest's music rampages over the course of 35 minutes, leaving you beaten down, sore, and asking for more.

DOWN AMONG THE DEAD MEN (International)
...And You Will Obey Me (Death Metal/Crust)
Transcending Obscurity Records (India)
15 June 2018
Death metal legends David Ingram (ex-Bolt Thrower, Ursinne, Echelon) and Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Eye of Purgatory, Necrogod) team up to create a new chapter of the heaviest form of death metal/crust you'll hear. With both members being in top form following the resounding success of Ursinne and Paganizer on the common label, they do something outstanding for Down Among The Dead Men, taking the unique sound forward without betraying the roots. The third album is the best one in their acclaimed discography where bludgeoning death metal meets the spunk of crust and leaves something unforgettable in its wake. Immaculately produced and executed as a fully functioning band, 'And You Will Obey Me' will go down as one of the strongest albums of this period.

For fans of - Paganizer, Bolt Thrower, Benediction, Ursinne, Echelon, Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Warcrab
