The Deceit Overview
After their successful and critically-acclaimed 2012 second full-length Sui Caedere
and while working on the next album, Eye Of Solitude started working on
a very special project, a benefit digital EP, aimed to help the
Romanian center for the blind and sight-impaired, an obvious choice
given Daniel Neagoe, Eye Of Solitude's main man is hailing from there
and Nico, label manager, is suffering from a vision loss disease called
retinitis pigmentosa, but the band didn't want it to be just a bunch of
tracks, they wanted it to be very special, a reward and gift for the
fans willing to help the cause they chose to help, something showing
they really care about it and about their loyal following, thus they got
in touch with Arno Strobl, the ex-half of renewed Carnival In Coal, now
a solo artist singing for 6:33, We All Die (Laughing)! and more and
Déhà, the dark soul behind projects among which the likes of Imber
Luminis, Merda Mundi, We All Die (Laughing)! And more to create a very
special song, The Deceit, featuring three vocalists, Arno
Strobl adding his talented clean and sad vocal touch while Déhà adding
the Depressive Black Metal one, alongside Daniel's cadaverous,
dehumanized and despaired growling for a stunningly dark and hopeless
result, adding yet an other level of darkness to the utterly oppressive
Eye
Of Solitude trademark atmosphere.
A second, instrumental, song, a cover version of Shape Of
Despair's "Night's Dew" was also recorded during these sessions, it's
gonna be featured on the label exclusive version of the EP and will be
offered for free download too while a remastered version of
"Painstained", a song from the band's 2011's now sold out debut
full-length, The Ghost, completes both versions of the EP.

SONIC REIGN's Monument in Black Out Now
Monument in Black, the new album from German Black Metal stalwarts SONIC REIGN is now available worldwide through Apostasy Records.
To
mark the day on which this primal plague of darkness was unleashed upon
the Earth, Apostasy Records has posted the song "Soul Flagellation" at this location.
SONIC REIGN's newest offering follows up 2006's Raw Dark Pure
(reissued in 2007 by Metal Blade) with driving muscular grooves and
feral force again reminiscent of SATYRICON. The album comes highly
praised by some very renowned names in the global metal community,
including MELECHESH vocalist/guitarist Ashmedi who called the album
"Intense, dark, [and] powerful." KATATONIA's Anders "Blakkhem" Nyström added that Monument in Black is "Raw and to the bone with a metal morbid consistent groove."
Visit www.apostasyrecords.com to order.
"Monument
In Black is a really good release that may not be your typical Black
Metal album, but will surely satisfy the fans of the genre. It is a
well-executed album with many tempo and style changes all wrapped in a
dirty sounding production." - MetalKaoz.com
"If this ends up being the best black metal release of 2013 it would be deserving." - Wicked Channel

Nader Sadek "MAYHEM" Art Exhibit Opens Today In Philadelphia
Famed
artist and visual effects director and driving force behind the
all-star death metal project that bears his name, NADER SADEK is being
featured as part of a group exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary
Art in Philadelphia. The
exhibit, which runs from February 6th until July 28th, 2013, will
feature masks worn by Attila Cshiar during his performances with Sunn
O))) and Mayhem. The masks where designed and fabricated by Nader Sadek
in his NYC studio in 2007. Mayhem then commissioned Sadek to make
their stage set for their US shows in 2009, for which he sculpted a
flesh and bone style version of the band's original logo. The work is
being exhibited among other works, including works by Genesis P-orridge
of Throbbing Gristle among others.
For details on the exhibit, visit www.icaphila.org/exhibitions/white-petals.php.
On February 27th, NADER SADEK will self-release the live CD/DVD Living Flesh, which captured the first ever live performance of the 2011 release In The Flesh. Details on the release can be found below or by visiting www.nadersadek.com.
GunShyAssassin.com recently premiered the song "Petrophilia" from Living Flesh. The track is currently streaming at this location.
Capturing the inimitable stage presence of a unique collaboration of death metal and black metal giants, Living Flesh offers
the heavy, haunting soundtrack of a society ever more soaked in the
reanimated, decomposed bio-matter we know as petroleum. The November
20, 2011 show featured the original line-up of musicians from the In the Flesh
record, as well as two new performers. The original line-up consisted
of Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY); Rune Eriksen (AURA NOIR, AVA INFERI,
ex-MAYHEM); Novy (ex-BEHEMOTH and ex-VADER); and Steve Tucker (ex-MORBID
ANGEL in his first and last live appearance for this project. Those
greats are joined by Sean Frey as guest live guitarist and Carmen Simoes
on backing vocals.
Living Flesh also brings you photos of that evening, demonstrating why NADER SADEK
has been a favorite set-designer for the likes of SUNN O))) and MAYHEM.
Nodding to the petroleum theme, the Egyptian artist brought the drums
to the front of the stage as a metaphorical engine driving the music,
while the disembodied voices of the singers emerge from the rear of the
stage, behind the guitars and bass. Sadek himself takes the stage to
baptize small, gut-like objects in a black tar-like liquid and throw
them into the crowd.
The
songs themselves differ from the original studio album arrangements.
Not only are they played at a much higher speed, but have been extended
to allow the audience to sink into and absorb the relentless riffs.
Carmen Simoes' operatic voice enhances the melodies and darkens the
atmosphere. The live show also features one track that does not appear
on the studio album: Flo Mounier's extraordinary drum solo that shifts
from brutal mechanical noise to rhythmic musical patterns, paralleling
the overlap of man and machine charted by Sadek's petroleum-based
project. Living Flesh
will also be released in a single, unique vinyl edition. Consisting of a
very special packaging and extra content, this piece is limited to one
exclusive copy worldwide. Details to be announced.

ABACINATE Returns With A Vengeance
Jersey
death metal devils ABACINATE have burst back onto the scene after a
year-long hiatus following the tragic death of singer Jason "Plunger"
Sica. After securing the services of new vocalist Ruben Ratliff, of
Jersey death/slam band NJDOTS, Abacinate closed out 2012 with a string
of shows in New Jersey and Boston with the likes of Dehumanized, Dying Fetus, Dysentery, Malignancy, Without Remorse, and Cognitive.
With
the band firing on all cylinders again and new material for the
follow-up to 2011's Genesis in the works, ABACINATE is pleased to
announce their addition to the 2013 Philthadelphia Infest on March 16th
and 17th. The fest will take place at Gunners Run - 1001 North 2nd
Street, Philidelpdia, PA. Appearing alongside ABACINATE will be MASTER,
DEVOURMENT, CANNIBIS CORPSE, BRUTAL TRUTH, PHOBIA and many more. For
details, visit the PHILTHADELPHIA INFEST Event Page. ABACINATE is scheduled to perform on Sunday, March 17th.
Stay tuned for ABACINATE updates and news, as 2013 promises to be a huge year for the band. www.facebook.com/abacinate.
Faced with the
same adversity and mediocrity that serve as antagonists in every metal
kid's personalized tale of scrounging for success in an over-saturated
scene, Abacinate is one band you won't catch high-fiving one another at
the bottom rung of the ladder. From the band's formation in early
2005, Abacinate has always strived to be more than just a big fish in
their small, central Jersey pond.
While
the last six years have been filled with an abundance of broken bodies,
shattered bottles and moments of heinous debauchery, they have also
seen Abacinate evolve from just another garage band to an impact player
on today's underground scene. Refusing to stand still or spin their
wheels, Abacinate's growth process can be easily traced from their
early demos and split releases to the release of their full-length
debut, Ruination; an album that Blabbermouth.net states "packs a lot of
punch and keeps things interesting." It seems that the
critics weren't the only ones to take a liking to Abacinate's seamless
blend of brutality, melodic death, thrash and unadulterated heaviness,
as they've shares stages with acts raging from the legendary Testament
and Napalm Death to new-school warriors such as Job For A Cowboy,
Suicide Silence and Necrophagist (just to name a few). The summer of
2010 saw Abacinate strike out on a DIY tour with fellow Jersey-natives
Fit For An Autopsy, which earned both bands new fans across the country
and served as one more notch in the proverbial bedpost. Before hitting
the road, Abacinate entered The Machine Shop with producer Will Putney
to record their anticipated second full-length, Genesis. A sonic slab
of concrete and razor wire, Genesis offers as much chaotic brutality as
it does schooled and focused songwriting. In short, this album offers
the metal community a much needed kick to the cubes. In
September of 2010, Abacinate suffered the tragic loss of frontman Jason
"Plunger" Sica. Once again, the band's stop-at-nothing attitude
prevailed and Genesis, and everything the band accomplishes after, will
not only serve as a tribute to the singer's life and memory, but as a
testament to the strength and determination he shared with his
bandmates. This is Abacinate. This is fucking metal.

Kaotoxin Records Reissues ANTROPOFAGO Debut
After the release of their, free, Between Fear and Madness
digital EP in November 2012 and before unleashing their brand new,
second, full-length, Kaotoxin Records is proud to give worldwide
release to ANTROPOFAGO's 2011 self-released full-length debut, Beyond Phobia (19/20 - MetalSickness, 15/20 - VS-Webzine).
Playing a dark kind of technical Death Metal, that VS-Webzine likened to "a mix of Gorod and Deeds Of Flesh," ANTROPOFAGO self-released their debut in 2011, before getting signed to Kaotoxin late last year. Beyond Phobia
is 12 tracks of intricate, psychotic, sometimes melodic, sometimes
blasting, Death Metal with a focus on a sharp guitar work (Antropofago
counts in their ranks Hugo Mermet, luthier for Gorod, Insain and
more...) and catchy song-writing with a lyrical fetish for everything
twistedness, psychosis, phobias and the likes.
Like all Kaotoxin releases, the album is available for free full streaming at listen.kaotoxin.com.
Release dates:
- Label mailorder: Jan.29th
- France: Feb.04th (through Season Of Mist)
- UK & Eire: Mar.05th (through Code7)
- Digital, US & Canada: Apr.09th (through MVD)
The Between Fear and Madness
digital single, featuring the previously unreleased "Cannibal Way of
Life" and pre-production version of "Paranoid Visions (Part 2)" from the
band's forthcoming sophomore release, is now available for free at listen.kaotoxin.com.
A bonus version that includes a re-worked version of "Bloodred
Honeymoon" - which originally appeared on one of the band's early demos -
is available on iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Spotify, etc. and all major
digital platforms. Details on ANTROPOFAGO's next album, scheduled for
release later this year, are coming soon.

The Soda Shop Debuts Video For MOTHERSHIP's "City Nights"
TheSodaShop.us
has delivered an exclusive world premier of the video for "City Nights"
from Dallas, TX heavy rockers Mothership.
Directed
by Alan Fillencia for Scything Touch Productions, the video comes from
the band's self-titled debut album, which is due out on February 12th on
Ripple Music. Check it out at this location.
70's-tinged
U.S. hard rock with a sound that satisfies like a steaming hot stew of
UFO and Iron Maiden, blended with the southern swagger of Molly Hatchet
and ZZ Top, Mothership's goal from the beginning has been to carry on
the tradition of the classic rock style; updated and amped up for the
modern day. Originally self-released in 2012, Mothership and Ripple
Music have joined forces to re-release this stunning debut record on CD
(includes lyrics) and LP (packages to include an 11" x 17" poster and
download cards).
Late last week, Ripple Music held a special online pre-sale for limited edition copies of of Mothership on purple splattered vinyl with signed poster.
All 100 copies of the album were sold-out in less than two hours. If
you weren't one of the fortunate few, it would be wise to visit www.ripple-music.com on or around the release date to secure yourself a copy of what is destined to be one of 2013's greatest rock records.
Mothership
will be playing two Dallas-area CD release shows next month and is
currently putting together a West Coast tour. Confirmed dates are as
follows:
February 8th @ Curtain Club - Dallas, TX
February 9th @ Lola's Saloon - Ft. Worth, TX
March 8th @ Club Red/ Red Owl - Tempe, AZ
March 29th @ Johnny B's - Medford, OR
"Such a killer find, man. Can't wait to see them live!"
- Dom Lawson (Metal Hammer / Classic Rock)
"Been listening to
Mothership all day now and if feels like UFO and Orange Goblin got drunk
with St. Vitus, smoked some weed with Blue Cheer and spewed out the
tuffest blues-drenched, no frills love child I've heard all month. Some
ridiculously badass guitars. And heavy above all else!" -- Sword of Doom
"Try to resist a
band that plays blues-laden metal with heavy guitar riffs that is also
hoping for intergalactic travel. Mothership is a three piece from Dallas
that alternates between an almost AC/DC-like sound on a track like
'City Nights' and a broader, heavier and more epic sound on tracks like
'Cosmic Rain,' 'Angel of Death' and the opener, 'Hallucination.'

Mothership Bio
Rock
n' Roll history is rife with brothers working together to create their
artistic vision. But rarely do we hear about a full-fledged family unit
embarking down the treacherous path of a musical career. In the case of
Texas based Mothership, the Brother Juett (Kyle on bass, younger brother
Kelley on guitar) enlisted the aid of their father, John Juett, to help
get the 'ship off the ground. Raised on a healthy dose of their
father's 70's-era record collection, the brothers began crafting songs
fueled on the raucous and raw good time vibe when music seemed to know
no bounds. Lifting off the pad for the first time in 2010, the band
began to gain momentum and notoriety with their unabashed live shows.
Knowing that the service of the family patriarch was temporary, Father
Juett actively helped his boys find his replacement, and in late 2011,
enter the mighty Judge Smith to hammer away on the skins. In early 2012,
Mothership entered Crystal Clear Studios with Wo Fat mastermind Kent
Stump manning the boards and by mid-year, the band self-released their
debut album. It was the combination of the 70's-era heavy rock fuzz and
fury mixed with the blistering guitar solos of the NWOBHM-era that drew
the bands attention to California-based Heavy Rock label, Ripple Music.
In the waning months of 2012, after a successful year of traveling
regionally throughout Texas and opening for national acts such as Prong,
Red Fang, Gypsyhawk, Earthen Grave, and Lo-Pan, Mothership officially
dubbed Ripple Music as its Home Port and began plotting a course for
their first U.S. Tour in early 2013.
