Bull Elephant S/T Debut album Stream

Anonymous UK Collective BULL ELEPHANT Release S/T Debut / Album Streaming
UK anonymous collective BULL ELEPHANT have released its self-titled devut album on Eat Lead and Die Music. Purchase and/or stream the album below.

Bull Elephant is the story of a slain African elephant that occultist Ahnenerbe SS attempted to bring back from the dead as a new form of battle asset. However, before re-animation could be completed it was intercepted by a mysterious witch-shaman, pursuing her own agenda and redirecting the undead creature’s purpose.

Think of the background concept as Raiders of the Lost Ark set to a progressive doom soundtrack where Judeo-Christian mythology is replaced by the even more sinister universe hinted at in the writings of H. P. Lovecraft.... with Nazi assault wolves.

The BULL ELEPHANT debut album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Cathedral, Ghost) at Orgone Studios, Bedfordshire, UK.

The album will be available from Bandcamp as a 24-bit download. The accompanying physical release is a 210x210mm (8.5” sq.), 26-page lyric and artwork booklet with CD insert that gives more insight into the pre-war world of the creature.

A lyric video for the title track is available at youtu.be/JaSzr4hIyl0. A promo video for "Construct of Chaos" can be found at youtu.be/GWZCHjTVOYw

"Now, as I wrap up my thirteenth listen, I know it’s silly, but in a very addicting way. These guys are so over the top that they land on both feet on the other side of excess, and somehow end up delivering a killer progressive doom album with plenty of side dishes of death and thrash."
- Angry Metal Guy

"You can feel the zombie elephant stomping the terra – if you close your eyes and put your mind in right place, you can live in the middle of it. It’s a monster." - Flying Fiddlesticks

"It’s certainly an interesting concept that is behind the debut of Bull Elephant here. Happily though, that inspiration has birthed a pretty spectacular record. A record that has a lot to say about what can be done to take doom to a different & more unique level."
- Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

"The whole thing has been put together superbly, whoever it is doing the singing and playing. Tracks move in and out of the consciousness seamlessly, giving the album a very cohesive feel whatever style is being employed. Equal parts beguiling, affecting, and effective, Bull Elephant is a must-listen for anyone with an ear for quirky themes and bang-on musicianship."
- Sentinel Daily

"Really bloody unusually good for a debut. It’s a unique album from clearly talented people from various musical backgrounds."
- Noob Heavy

“When the band first started, and names were being considered, I felt that Oath of Cruelty had the right 'texture' and connotations you know? Sadism, medieval violence, torture... It just fits.” Dave Callier just hit the nail on the head. Frantic, barbaric, yet sharp as a knife… Those are just some of the words most associated Houston’s Oath of Cruelty.

The band was initially formed in 2010 by Matt ‘Mayhem’ Heffner on drums, Dave Callier on guitar and Kyle Laven (R.I.P.) on lead guitar, and their first demo Altar of Impalement was recorded in 2012 with Robert Mena from local 80s thrash moguls Dark Reign on vocals. After few line-up changes (incl. the arrival of Imprecation’s Danny Hiller on guitar, and of Tony Rich from Houston's Necrotic Void, who had a 2-year stint in the band) plus a second demo and a two track EP, the core trio of Callier, Mayhem and Hiller have finally recorded their first proper full-length and sealed a pact (in blood) with Dark Descent Records to release it.

Their songs are about sadism, medieval scenes of violence and carnage, the senseless nature of war, the Black Plague, idiot religions, and the industrialization of war and weaponry. No wonder then that they’ve covered Merciless classic from their The Awakening album ‘Denied Birth’ and that most of their influences seem to come not only from the 80’s but from the then bleak industrial-like German birth place of Sodom and Kreator. “With the exception of Slayer, I always felt like 80’s German thrash metal was much more deathly and abrasive, which speaks more to us. Pleasure to KillRiders of Doom – there aren't many US bands that have records worth comparing to these! I have to confess though that it's important not to understate the effect Repulsion has always had on me... Most of their really classic songs are just thrash metal riffs played at 45 RPM. Total death!”

All three musicians - Spencer from Blaspherian joined them on bass after the recording - may have roots in grindcore (PLF), war metal (Morbosidad) and evil death metal (Blaspherian) yet Summary Execution at Dawn lives in its own time frame. With some songs harking back as far as 2010 and a recording slowly chipped away at since 2015, the result is 34 minutes of death/thrash executed at rabid speed, set in medieval times when “life was cheap” and tyrants and cruel wizards ruled the earth. In the sign of evil indeed!

OATH OF CRUELTY is:
Dave Callier - Guitar/vocals
Matt Heffner - Drums
Danny Hiller - Guitar

AKHLYS - The Dreaming (Review)

Original and complex metal. Actually very good if you let the sound lead you into this chaotic but controlling universe a new world will slowly open, only for those who are patient and dare to enter the realm AKHLYS create on ‘Dreaming’ if you like bands like Aborym and Mysticum you will probably like this.

I honestly couldn’t stop listening to’The Dreaming’ before it was done because I wondered if they had the same views as myself and I was right about that one.

I’m very amazed by their use of synths and sounds here. It’s well done and executed for the listener to learn how to destroy their own minds while listening to the album which is more deadly than witchcraft. I had a poetic experience to it. You will not be the same when these guys are done.
It’s like magic and it’s a deep and powerful story to digest and it slowly makes you feel better about yourself and the way it will be.

It’s quite interesting and original but it demands a lot from the listeners and it’s surely not a party album unless it’s a closed one filled with psychedelic stuff and there should probably be a “safe place“ as many people will have to listen to happy tunes after running scared away from AKHLYS - The Dreaming as they can’t believe they were able to walk into these wasteland of vast lands and cold world war with steel metal and hell truly appears to be a good way to go back to.

An experience on the borderline of a dying world is what I see. The fall of civilization as we know it is what they create and this is the darkest part, so you better listen to the entire album or you’ll end up at your mom lap crying.

This is darkness in beauty or beauty in darkness. You decide what portrait you want to paint and then you will see what you gotta do with your life.

There are some moments on ‘The Dreaming’ that are indescribable beautiful and there are some moments of indescribable darkness.
It’s a beautiful dream for those who catch the drift.
The only question I have is with I listen to it a lot, or is it just a one time experience?
Only time will tell..
Listeners decide what they wanna give it..

I recommend you to listen to it all, but this is not your everyday album.
Try before you buy or buy and try...
