Helheim 30th anniversary

Helheim celebrated their 30th anniversary last friday and it was a blast (from the past).

All their classics one by one and some guest appearannces by Hoest on "Dualitet Og Ulver".
"Jernskogen" and some other tunes were the highligt for me and when they played the opening track from their first album with those high pitched vocals and I wondered if they were able to still perform those vocals and they did it perfectly.

I left the consert with s smile on my face. The vocalist/bassist Ørjan had good contact with the crowd and there was some humor and good happy birthday vibes overall throughout the evening. I think those who was there enjoyed it like I did. It's hard to explain how it all went down in words but it was worth it!

There also was a lady who sang beautiful but unfortunately I don't know her name but you can watch for yourselves in the video I uploaded here :

Here is some more pictures from the evening :

Svadilfare - Makt Til Uskyld (Review)

Label : Naturmacht Productions
Release date: October 25th, 2013

Ildsint : All instruments & Vocals.

<br />Svadilfare - Makt til uskyldI was excited about this album and how it would sound as I've heard one or two tracks form their 2012 album 'Den Som Herjer' before. So I had some expectations about this one.

'Makt Til Uskyld' which is their second full-lenght starts of very good with a calm athmospheric guitars and 'chanting' which sets the mood.
As the album spins you're in for some traditional norwegian pagan/black metal and the more I play it the more I like it.

The music is very atmospheric and melodic at times ,very enjoyable actually.
I also like the way they use the clean vocals it's nothing new but fits very well into the overall picture and I get the feeling that it's pagan metal at times, mainly due to the clean vocals.

The harsh vocals varies a bit, on some tracks they are more high pitched like whilst on other they are more in the background. They fit the music pretty good.
I prefer the atmospheric mid-tempo over the fast tracks with thrash elements which I think they could have left out or done otherwise.
They are surely onto something here and there are some very good ideas here, just listen to 'Fossefall' which is a brilliant track and a good example of what this band is capable of.
The unique thing about this album is the brilliant guitarwork and melodies that puts you in a state of mind which is impossible to explain further than going into a trance.

If I had to point out something it would be the drum sounds which is horrible at times, especially when the double bass kick are played they sound way too loud and like plastic this isn't on the whole album luckily, only on the 'thrash'.
But considering this is a relatively new band 'Makt Til Uskyld' is a good album ,a better production, especially the drums wouldn't hurt though. I think their music deserves it.

Svadilfare is a band I certainly will follow in the future 'cause this band sounds very promising in my ears and right now I enjoy this release as it grows for each listen,so my advice is that you listen to this album a few times 'cause it's a good album you don't want to miss!

Tracks to mention : Fossefall & Makt Til Uskyld

Pagan Blood (France) - Lords Of The Seas,Review

Pagan Blood (France) - Lords Of The Seas

Le Crépuscule du Soir Productions. 2013

This band was formed by Julien previously Heathen Dawn and Hoarfen back in 2007 and released their debut 'The Last Empire' on 2009.
Their second album 'Lords Of The Seas' is now released by Le Crépuscule du Soir Productions.

'Lords Of The Seas' contains 7 long lasting tracks of pagan/black metal.
At first I found it to be way to repetitive and monotone but after some more listens I have to admit it's an overall quite good album,it's not original in any way though, but that's not always the point if you ask me.
The music is mostly mid-tempo with a very melodic approach and is has a very melodic and atmospheric touch to it.
The album has it's highlights in between ,but you might have to listen to it a few times for it to reveal itself and when it does ,you sit with a quite enjoyable album.

Legacy Of Emptiness - Legacy Of Emptiness

Genre: Symphonic Black/Pagan Metal
Country: Norway

This Norwegian band took me by surprise as soon as I started listening to their album witch starts out with a "John Lord" sounding intro!

They deliver solid metal with very powerful synth parties that gives me an epic/medieval feeling at times blended with great guitar solos.
The synth parts can at times remind a bit of Nightwish beautiful compositions, but besides that there is no similarities and this bands stand on their own musically.

A very uplifting album this is and the more I listen the more I like it! They have some descent ambient parts as well, just listen to "Valley Of Unrest.
Poweful & majestic compositions at it's best, the tempo varies trough the album some are slower and the faster reminds more of synth based black metal.

I have to state that I like the slower songs better, since the compositions is easier to hear on these, that beein said I cannot really find one negative aspect on the album except maybe it would be nice if they had used the clean vocal more.

Even though I've heard several attempts of trying to create what these guys do,this does not get boring at all and the sound is top notch!
So I suggest you check this album as soon as possible if you like a solid dose of athmosperic & uplifting metal, not sure if uplifting is the right word in this category, but who cares?
